Spring Cleaning Starts With a Home Revamp
24th February 2022
Why not revamp your home by cleaning your windows ready for spring?
We know that cleaning your windows is probably the last task that you want to do, it's a tedious chore, so it's important that you get it right the first time.
We have put together some top tips for spring cleaning your windows.
Cleaning them at the right time
It is so important that you make sure you're cleaning your windows at the right time of year. Spring is the best time of the year to clean your windows, once all the leaves and debris will have blown away leaving your windows clear and fresh in preparation for the new season. More so if you've neglected your windows over the winter period.
So, if you plan on spending your weekend cleaning your windows then we suggest that you start as early as possible, as the weather will be warmer than usual to help with drying out those pesky stains from previous years.
Remove any dirt
Now that you've chosen the best time to clean your windows, it's time to get cleaning!
Before you start using anything to clean your windows, it's important that you wipe away any residue that may have built up over winter. If you don't remove this build-up of dirt and debris it could cause damage to your windows, or even worse result in streaks or marks.
Make sure you thoroughly wash down every window pane, including the frames and seals - not just the glass.
Choosing the right tool
There are so many different types of tools for cleaning your windows. Sponges and brushes tend to be easier on the window panes, leaving them streak-free. You could also use a squeegee, but we would recommend only using these on the outside of the windows, so the water doesn't drip onto your floor. You'll also want to consider the size of your tools, if you have small windows, or windows that are out of reach.
One at a time
It's a good idea to make sure you are taking your time, that way you can really make sure you aren't missing anywhere - after all, this is a big task. Our advice would be to divide the job up and do each room at a time. There are also other tips to help you keep on top of your cleaning during spring. For greasy, dirt stained windows, you can easily use white vinegar to keep them clean, all you need to do is mix it with tap water and then spray on your windows, wiping them down with a cloth afterwards.
